Brave New World
Now more than ever Aldous Huxley's enduring masterwork must be read and understood by anyone concerned with preserving the human spirit. This celebrated classic is now available as a Harper Perennial Olive Edition.
Aldous Huxley's profoundly important classic of world literature, Brave New World is a searching vision of an unequal, technologically-advanced future where humans are genetically bred, socially indoctrinated, and pharmaceutically anesthetized to passively uphold an authoritarian ruling order—all at the cost of our freedom, full humanity, and perhaps also our souls. “A genius [who] who spent his life decrying the onward march of the Machine” (The New Yorker), Huxley was a man of incomparable talents: equally an artist, a spiritual seeker, and one of history’s keenest observers of human nature and civilization.
Brave New World, his masterpiece, has enthralled and terrified millions of readers, and retains its urgent relevance to this day as both a warning to be heeded as we head into tomorrow and as a thought-provoking, satisfying work of literature. Written in the shadow of the rise of fascism during the 1930s, Brave New World likewise speaks to a 21st-century world dominated by mass-entertainment, technology, medicine and pharmaceuticals, the arts of persuasion, and the hidden influence of elites.

The beautiful design and attention to detail set this special edition book apart, whether you’re reading for the first time or building a library of your favorite Stoic philosophy books.
Unhappy am I, because this has happened to me—Not so, but happy am I, though this has happened to me, because I continue free from pain, neither crushed by the present nor fearing the future. For such a thing as this might have happened to every man; but every man would not have continued free from pain on such an occasion. Why then is that rather a misfortune than this a good fortune?
—Book IV, 49
Meditations is a collection of personal writings, ruminations, and reflections by the second-century Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius, composed during his reign from AD 161 to 180. Though not formally published during his lifetime, these reflections on Stoic philosophy and the nature of existence have since been compiled into one of the most influential works of ancient philosophy. It is a spiritual journal of the author’s philosophical exercises and a chronicle of the paradox of the philosopher-king, who must enforce the law and administer justice while looking beyond politics to the cosmic vantage point from which the tribulations of politics come to seem trivial.

The stunning Art of War special edition features sprayed edges, color end pages, a built-in ribbon bookmark, and embossed foil cover. The beautiful design and attention to detail set this special edition book apart, whether you’re reading for the first time or building a library of your favorite classic literature books.
More than two thousand years old, this classic of Chinese philosophy lays out a systematic, rational approach to tactics and strategy that leaders worldwide have applied not only to the military, but also to business, law, martial arts, and sports. This elegant edition uses Lionel Giles’s classic translation and stands apart for its gorgeous design. Giles’s extensive annotations and commentary on Sun Tzŭ’s aphorisms and proverbs are also included.
The Art of War, attributed to the ancient Chinese military strategist Sun Tzŭ, is a profound treatise on strategy and warfare, believed to have been composed around the fifth century BC during the turbulent Warring States period. This text is not only one of the oldest but also among the most influential military strategy books ever written, offering wisdom that extends beyond the battlefield to tactics in politics, business, and everyday life. Sun Tzŭ’s principles emphasize flexibility, swift adaptability, and the importance of intelligence and deception, urging leaders to win wars with minimal conflict and without unnecessary loss of life. This seminal work holds a significant place in both historical and literary realms, providing insight into Chinese philosophy and the era’s strategic practices. The Art of War has transcended its military origins to become a crucial guide in various contemporary fields, revered for its deep understanding of the dynamics of conflict and strategies for navigating it effectively. It remains a critical study in the discipline of strategy, echoing through centuries its potent axiom that the supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.

The Martian Chronicles
The 75th anniversary edition of The Martian Chronicles, a seminal work in Ray Bradbury’s career, whose extraordinary power and imagination remain undimmed by time’s passage.
In The Martian Chronicles, Ray Bradbury, America’s preeminent storyteller, imagines a place of hope, dreams, and metaphor—of crystal pillars and fossil seas—where a fine dust settles on the great empty cities of a vanished, devastated civilization. Earthmen conquer Mars and then are conquered by it, lulled by dangerous lies of comfort and familiarity, and enchanted by the lingering glamour of an ancient, mysterious native race. In this classic work of fiction, Bradbury exposes our ambitions, weaknesses, and ignorance in a strange and breathtaking world where man does not belong.

Pride and Prejudice Complete Novel
This collector's edition invites fans inside the world of Jane Austen's Elizabeth Bennet. A deluxe, cloth-bound, two-volume set includes gorgeous replicas of the characters' letters, plus all-new mementos, such as the Darcys' marriage certificate and an invitation to the ball at Netherfield.
Pride and Prejudice is one of the most beloved books of all time, and nothing captures the vivid emotion and keen wit of Jane Austen’s novel better than the characters’ correspondence. It is, after all, Darcy’s heartfelt letter that finally changes Elizabeth’s feelings from hostility and suspicion to respect and love.
Barbara Heller’s specially curated edition, first published in 2020, brought these epistles to life and became a fan favorite. Pockets throughout the novel contain handwritten replicas of nineteen letters, from Mr. Collins’s unctuous letter of introduction to Jane’s urgent missive announcing Lydia’s elopement. Readers can pull out each piece, peruse its contents, and feel transported to the breakfast table at Longbourn.
Now, this collector's edition offers a luxurious cloth binding, deluxe paper, and new printed ephemera that lend an additional dimension to the reading experience:
A newspaper clipping announcing that Netherfield Park is available to let
An invitation to the ball at Netherfield
An illustrated guide to Pemberley
Darcy and Elizabeth’s marriage license
The first four manuscript pages of Austen’s unfinished novel The Watsons
Heller's research notes shed fascinating light on how she imbued each letter with the character's unique personality and recreated historical postage marks. Delve deeper into the history with guest essays by Philip Palmer, curator and department head at the Morgan Library & Museum, and Dr. Juliette Wells, curator of the Morgan’s 2025 exhibition of Austen’s own letters, A Lively Mind: Jane Austen at 250. For anyone who loves Austen, and for anyone who still cherishes the joy of letter writing or collects printed memorabilia, this book offers an immersive experience of a favorite story.

But soon Elizabeth learns that her first impressions may not have been correct, and the quiet, genteel Mr. Darcy might be her true love after all.

The War of the Worlds
The seminal masterpiece of alien invasion, The War of the Worlds (1898) conjures a terrifying, tentacled race of Martians who devastate the Earth and feed on their human victims while their voracious vegetation, the red weed, spreads over the ruined planet. After the novel’s hero finds himself trapped in what is left of London, despairing at the destruction of human civilization, he discovers that life on Earth is more resilient than he had imagined. Adapted by Orson Welles for his notorious 1938 radio drama and subsequently by many filmmakers, H. G. Wells’s timeless story shows no sign of losing its grip on readers’ imaginations.
